Setup for PHYS143 Optics Lab

There are two parts to this lab; Snells Law and Simple Lenses & Telescope.

For this lab there is enough apparatus and space for each station (there are 5 stations for the 140's labs) to have their own dedicated apparatus.

The apparatus for Snells Law is stored on the top shelf of the 3rd wall cabinet (furthest from the door). The only exception is the ThorLabs red light laser which can be found in KPTC-311 with the PHSC solar spectrum lab stuff.

• 1 - Cork board.
• 1 - Water tray.
• 1 - Piece of block glass.
• 6 - Steel push pins.
• 2 - Foam board pieces for locating incident, reflected and refracted beam paths.
• 1 - Red light laser with power supply.

There is a water faucet and mini sink located on the west bench by the wall cabinets. Extra paper is usually stored in bench cabinet at this location.

All the apparatus for this part is located in the third wall cabinet. The lab uses the Vernier opical rail and associated components.

• 1 - Optical rail.
• 1 - Light source with power supply.
• 1 - Translucent screen.
• 1 - Short focal length lens (blue tape).
• 1 - Long focal length lens (red tape).
